Richar Roos - Fall 2022

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for making my study abroad experience possible. Without hesitation, I am able to say that I am having the time of my life. Every day is fun and exciting. From the mouth-watering foods to the breathtaking scenery, I am overjoyed to be in Japan. Although exploring Japan, trying new foods, and experiencing Japanese traditions is fun, the highlight of my study abroad so far is the community I formed in the dorms.

Dorm life has changed the way I experienced college. Currently, I am a junior in college, but due to COVID-19 I never had the opportunity to experience the dorm life. As a result, I had always felt that there was something missing in my college life. However, studying abroad has allowed me to find what I was missing. There is not a single dull day at the dorms because someone is always doing something. Days that seem mundane to some are precious because the dorm residents and I find a way to make it unforgettable. On top of that, most of the residents are Japanese so it is a fantastic opportunity to improve my Japanese conversational skills.

At the end of the month, I plan to go on a trip to Hiroshima with my dorm friends.

I have attached photos of my dorm mates as well as photos from my trips to Yokohama in Kanagawa, and Hachinohe in Aomori.

Once again thank you,
Richar Roos
